Volunteer Opportunities

YOU could help us make change happen in one of these areas:

Court Advocacy*
Assist our Outreach Case Manager in meeting victims of domestic violence at the Circuit Clerk’s office and provide support as they file for protection orders, lend moral support for court proceedings, provide information regarding domestic violence and the resources available to victims of abuse.

Administrative Office
Help with newsletters and other correspondence, answer telephones and door, write thank-you notes, copy and fold brochures, answer telephones, and assist with general office work.

Special Events
Assist with various fundraising activities or sponsor your own event; be a part of our existing activities or events, which can be on the premises or at other locations in the community.

Special Mailings Team
Help prepare newsletters, announcements, and other special mailings as needed

Shelter/Hotline Office*
Assist staff by helping answer a 24-hour crisis hotline, help with resident intakes, provide clerical and advocate support, supplement staff in ensuring that the needs of our clients are met.

Community Education*
Help spread the work about the effects of domestic violence by speaking to clubs and organizations, staffing a booth at a special event, or distributing information.

Children's/Shelter Youth Program*
Help provide a fun, educational, and violence-free environment for children who are residents of Harmony House; being a positive role model; assisting staff with childcare duties.

Maintenance
Help keep our facility a pleasant place for the women and children we serve by providing lawn care, cleaning, painting, etc. and helping with upkeep of and making minor repairs to the buildings.

Support Group Facilitation*
Lead or help with support groups for our residents in areas such as self-esteem, job-hunting, personal image, parenting, etc. by giving presentations, showing videos, or demonstrating various skills.

Donations
Help unload, sort, and occasionally pick up items given by donors.

Kitchen Assist with meal preparation and cleanup

Fundraising Assist Director of Development with fundraising events and in locating new sources of funding

Special Skills
If you have a special skill that you think could benefit the women and children at Harmony House, please contact us to let us know how you want to be involved.
